UNE International Photography competition

This is the 3rd year that the event has been run. It was developed to give international students an extra-curricular activity to undertake in the winter months. The goal is to see through the lens of international students and learn what they see as interesting and representative of the Armidale area. In previous years the theme for the competition was ‘Life in Armidale’, however this year we have broadened the scope of the competition so that more quality photos can be recognised. The exhibition at NERAM gives the students a chance to have their work recognised and gives them exposure in the Armidale community. As a prelude to the Exhibition, ELC (with assistance of SSAF funding) recently held an International Student Photography Course. David Elkins, photographer ran the Course over 4 Saturdays (2.00pm - 5.00pm) with the last session taking in the sights of Armidale, enabling the students to practice their newly learned photography skills. This Course provided an opportunity for students to take a break from their studies and is a positive progression towards the Exhibition - the students are looking forward to participating and ELC are keen to showcase the students’ talents at NERAM. We held a small presentation ceremony yesterday afternoon at the ELC for some of the students who were able to attend.
