Playlist — By The Fire
So here we are, winter is here, literally the winter festival is around the corner (and for those asking, yes we are bringing in a snow machine, yes it is real snow). Anyway, as it is winter it’s time to rug up and snuggle up with someone (or a hot water bottle as I plan to do) and listen to some relaxed tunes, I’ve created a little playlist of my favourite tunes to listen to on a cozy afternoon wrapped up in blankets, so here is my winter by the fire (heater) playlist.
Slow Hands – Niall Horan
This one was recommended to me by the TuneFM Music Coordinator, and I can see why. It’s got a good beat to just tap your foot to, but doesn’t make you want to get up and dance to it. It’s enough to just have it on while you chill out and help you with some procrastination.
Eyes Shut – Years & Years
This song can empower you if the cold has you feeling a bit stuck. Obviously that’s not its meaning, but if you’re struggling to find some motivation or energy to do everything on your to-do list and just want to stay wrapped up in a blanket (which I totally condone as acceptable) this song may help you get moving on the right path.
Empty Streets (Acoustic Verion) – Koza Banks, MOZA
Acoustic versions always provide such a different feel to songs. This one is no different, it goes from a dance song on a Thursday night to a song you listen to on the cozy Friday afternoon. It’ll remind you of the night before while you stay in bed and nurture that hangover.
Perfect – Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran. Everything he does is perfect and this is no exception (see what I did there). This one is just such a feel-good song that you can’t help but feel happy and content when you listen to it. It just gets you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, something that can’t be created by all of the blankets, heaters, fires and hot water bottles.
Can’t Help Falling in Love – Haley Reinhart
This classic that has been covered by so many artists deserves its place here by just being it. There isn’t much more to say about it, when you’re sitting next to someone and you look at them while its playing in the background it just makes you feel a bit cozier and happier.
You and Me – Lifehouse
I don’t remember when or where I first heard this, but it has been a staple in my music collection for years now. It is a great song to pop on at any time, but even more when you are wrapped up in blankets staring at your heater and realising that is the best relationship you have in your life… I mean sitting next to your partner and realising that they are the best thing in your life.
Wherever You Will Go – The Calling
Look I couldn’t make a wintery playlist and not include this classic from my all-time favourite movie ‘Love Actually’. It might make you want to get up and dance and bop your head, but it reminds me of a very cold winter in America so all I want to do is be wrapped up in a blanket (yes even when I watch the movie in December in Australia).
I Won’t Let You Go – James Morrison
I definitely don’t say that to my hot water bottle as I fall asleep, and then wake up to it on the other side of the bed. I’m sure you guys would all think it’s a romantic song to be played at a wedding, but this winter I’m going to sing it to everything that is keeping me warm.
